故事是关于一只似乎懒散却能文擅美的田鼠和他家其他三只正忙着聚集过冬的田鼠的对话。故事教导我们如何能接纳一个和我们自己不同的思想和行为的家人，让我们能看到诗文和美感如何能起实际作用，其中发现能文擅美其实也是一种优点。在我正在我的艺术旅程里寻找目的当儿，这个故事鼓励了我。

李欧李奥尼的插图用了简单的形状和结构拼贴画技巧生动的表达了故事和各个角色。

This is one of my all-time favourite books.

A lovely story of a family of field mice coming to realize the importance of a particular family member who seems to be lazing and not doing his part in gathering food for winter. The story shows how a family can accommodate a family member even when they are different and how a poet and beauty can be practical. This story gave me much encouragement when I was seeking purpose in my career in pursuing the arts. Love the simple shapes and expressive illustration and textural collage techniques that Leo Lionni have used to bring the characters and story to life.
