This is a really delightful and clever story about the life, thoughts and feelings of an exclamation mark through a third-person narrative style. At first, he was really uncomfortable about himself and how he looked and tried hard to fit in. Then he met another punctuation mark, who triggered off who he really is with a series of questions, thus discovering the potential he is made for.   

This reminded me of a recent article I read of a Singaporean lady who was born without hands, but had made good and earned a living through being a dance instructor and food delivery personnel.  She shared how at first, she was uncomfortable with the questions about her hands and stood out wherever she went. But she came to terms with her differences and found her passion.

Parents can share with their children that every being is created to have their unique gifting and has been created for a purpose, even when one has special needs.  Besides the book itself, we can extend the discussion to the attached article to cultivate their sense of empathy, gratitude and contentment with what they have.  Think Nicky Vujicic who is without limbs.

I like that the book also uses simple but strong visual to communicate the story plot and makes the reading fun and quirky.
