Left : Knock knock! “Is it ready?”
Right: “The bread is still baking in the oven, please wait a while.”
Left: The bread roll is done! ” Let’s waste no time! Let’s bake another one!”
Right: Just as Lulu prepares to bake the next, she heard, “Knock Knock!”
“I’m baking everyone’s favourite animal-shaped bread now!
Please just wait a while and it’ll be ready real soon!”
Left: “Ta-da! It’s ready!”
Right: “Which shall I choose ?”
“Each one looks so delicious”

This is a see-through-the-hole picture book. I like the book because of its ingenuity in using the holes to show how an illustration can be two things. For example, refer to the above first picture, the tail of the squirrel in the first page became a bun after a turn of the page. This is seen through the hole on the facing page. If you refer to the third picture, the group of animals waiting outside Lulu’s shop can be seen through the bigger hole, which later on became Lulu’s animal buns that she made when seen through the smaller hole. It is a delightful and fun activity for young children to experience a new perspective through the holes. The illustrations are also a visual comfort as they are simple and easy to understand. My daughter would pretend to choose her bread, pick them up from the book and eat them.
